| - I purchased a Groupon for a chocolate and wine pairing event at Choklat in Inglewood. Having never been to this shop before, and being a lover of both wine and chocolate, I was really looking forward to it.
What a huge disappointment. The host of the event, was so odd, it was off putting. Although he is clearly extremely passionate about cocoa beans, he loves to hear himself talk. He went on and on and on for nearly an hour about the intricate process of growing, buying, shipping, roasting, pricing, sorting of beans. This is not why I was here.
At the end of the lengthy cocoa bean education, we finally had our 'chocolate and wine pairing'. I use those terms loosely. This consisted of 3 mouthfuls of average wine, paired with a small square of chocolate. By this time I couldn't wait to get home. It became obvious, that the sole purpose of these Groupons, is to promote the shop, and get people to buy chocolate. The biggest disappointment for me, was that I was looking forward to trying their 'drinking chocolate', something I had heard, was truly delicious, and part of this event. Guess what? They were out of it, so we had none.
Not impressed. Don't recommend.
