I drive past this place quite frequently and finally stopped by the other day. I must say, I'm pretty impressed. I like the selection of products, the old fashioned candy and the prices.
The only downfall to my visit was the service. The girl behind the counter must have been new. She was friendly and greeted my bf and I when we entered. When we were almost finished shopping and were in the Jelly Belly corner, what must have been the manager came to the register counter and started berating the sales girl fairly loudly. She was critiquing everything she was doing and kept pointing to all these negative things the girl hadn't done or needed to "really get into the mindset of doing". There were 4 employees there total and she was the only one that smiled and welcomed us. No one else acknowledged our presence or offered assistance when we went up and down the aisles. Apparently we were getting in the way of their inventory counts or something.
While the sales clerk was ringing us up she had a few questions about products and pricing, totally normal for a new hire. The manager quickly told her how much things were or gave her a price sheet and huffed away to start closing duties (one hour before closing I might add). I thought she was doing her best and to be treated that way by another employee in front of customers was wrong.
I will go back to this store purely because they have such a large candy selection. However, I hope the next time I visit the staff will be a bit friendlier and professional. Particularly after I spent $30 on candy...
