I notice a lot of amazing reviews from rescue mission volunteers here on Yelp. I would like to add a different perspective. A few years ago my brother was badly addicted and in desperate need of help. He had been on the streets on again off again for a long time. I live several hours away but am the nearest family to him so I went to Vegas to see what I could do to find him help. I talked to a number of places and visited a few - but "just knew" as soon as I spoke with someone at LVRM that I had to get my brother there. Even though their admin offices were closed that day, I drove out to see the place. I spoke with some residents and got a feel for the place and was even more sure I had to convince him that it was the right time and this was the right place. I believe we had 2 "false starts" of me driving to out to get him started in the program before he actually did it. You can read all about how their programs work online so I won't go into detail...but I will say that myself and my family were repeatedly blown away by how they managed their programs and the success of the programs. They have a great understanding of what it takes to help someone take all the tools they have learned and use them in the real world. It's not a 30 day detox and back to the streets program. It is a well thought out program that helps addicts transition back into productive citizens. There is such a need for these services all over, but especially in Vegas. If you have the time or money to help this organization I can assure you that any resources you donate have a lasting positive impact on the residents as well as the community in general.
