| - I would say the prices at this store were on par, and the salesman was pretty darn good, customer service is horrible and their extended warranty is the WORST I have ever used. DO NOT, however, buy anything from HH Gregg. Of course, the choice is yours - but I will tell you why & you make that call.
Problems During Sales & Delivery:
We purchased what seemed like a fantastic GE refrigerator during a decent sale for a new home we were constructing. We bought the fridge a few months before we needed it, because the salesman talked us into getting it at that price and they would store it until we needed it delivered. PLUS, if the price dropped they would give us the newer, better price. So why not, right? We bought their 5 year warranty, too.
Well, a few months go by & it's time to deliver it. They tell us they don't have the refrigerator anymore. Keep in mind, this is a fridge that we already bought & paid for, yet somehow they didn't have it anymore??? To top that off, the refrigerator is now an outdated model and the new model is more expensive. If we chose a refund, it would still cost us too much to get another one, because the good sale was long over. To HH Gregg's credit, after a LONG and drawn out argument with their store management, they finally agreed to give us the newer & more expensive refrigerator at a the same price as our original one. This, however, was only after a LOT of stress and unnecessary arguing. So their customer service process gets a 2/5 because they eventually fixed their error. I cannot give them any higher rating because they tried to get more money out of us, after selling our fridge (that we already owned) out from under us.
HUGE problems with their warranty company:
Fast forward 1.5 years after the fridge was delivered. The refrigerator portion of our Fridge has been freezing our food. Milk bottles are expanding and then busting out of the containers, the Kale is like ICE. Our onions are frozen solid. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a GE problem, not an HH Gregg problem, but the way the Warrantech (??) company works is absolutely the worst of any appliance or electronic I have ever used.
The HH Gregg warranty department schedules an appointment for a tech to come out. The tech was from "Golden In-Home Service". They are only open Monday-Friday 9-6; which isn't very good for 2 working homeowners. But we dealt with it, cancelled some meetings & planned to stay home for that scheduled visit. 2 days later, we get a call from "Golden In-Home Service" stating that our appoint is now scheduled for the day after HH Gregg's warranty company (Warrantech?) scheduled it for. Then tells us that the warranty company cannot schedule their people, it must come through their own dispatch, etc. Strike 2 so far with the warranty company.
When the tech does show up, he's about the same age as my kid, and doesn't seem to know anything. He tells me that I have a bad water valve, and ignores when I suggest that the water valve is only bad because it's frozen, just like the contents of my refrigerator. This first service guys says, he cannot find anything wrong with the fridge, and he just "rebooted it" by unplugging and plugging it back in & he cleared out all the frozen lines and components in the fridge. I called the service company and they were incredibly rude and unprofessional, which of course makes me be just equally rude back to them. They say there is nothing wrong with my fridge, and I guess freezing items in the Fridge portion is just an acceptable behavior to them. So I asked what we are supposed to do when our 2500 dollar fridge starts freezing things again, they said I will just have to call back.
5-days later we call back, Ask for a Senior Tech; and they finally send him out. Meanwhile we have 2 newborn twins and all our food keeps freezing. He comes out & replaces the mother board, but the board is bad & won't take the software updates.
7-days later - again. Replace more boards and do software updates in our non-tech style fridge. Replace sensors.
14 days layer - again. nothing they can do.
10 days later - again. Comes back out and tells me that we should just try to use the areas of the fridge that aren't freezing things. There is nothing more they can do for us.
Meanwhile,I am getting the finger-pointing run around between the golden service people and the warrantech people, and no one will take ownership for the problem and replace the fridge if that is what's needed. The Service company says they can't replace & needs to come from Warrantech. Warrantech says they won't deal with me and it MUST come from the service company that THEY sent to me.
All along, the customer service is completely aweful. I guess a positive thing is that all call centers seem to at least be English speaking agents, but still rude and useless.
We still don't have a working fridge after months of trying to get it fixed. STAY AWAY!!!!
