| - My husband and I always used to stay at South Point on our annual trips to Vegas, but unfortunately every time we've returned, we've sadly found the place going downhill. When I first discovered this place about 5-6 years ago, the best part about it was the price. Rooms were $49 with no resort fee-they used to proudly advertise they were the "no resort fee hotel". I was so happy to have finally found a nice hotel that was affordable and family-friendly-it was like a hidden gem that we loved. We would also get e-mail alerts to sales that they would run, and always would book our trip on the summer sale dates. The last couple of years, however, we've found not only has there been a resort fee added to the room price, but the e-mails and summer sale seem to have disappeared and the prices have increased substantially since we first began staying here. We continued to stay here the past few years, but after our last visit, I sadly don't believe we will be returning. Our favorite parts about South Point were the awesome pool, the buffet was great, we always enjoyed dining at Baja Miguel's, Bingo was fun, and of course you can't beat a late-night Steak n Shake run. Besides the price increase, resort fee, and discontinuation of the summer special, the down-sides would be the unfriendly bartenders and front desk staff, lack of a refrigerator in the rooms, limited tv channels, and we wish the pool would be open a bit later. Unfortunately, this hotel has become like a strip hotel and not the affordable, family-friendly, great-value hotel we fell in love with.
