The bouncers are pretty much thugs. I was refused entry on a night when it was empty for wearing the wrong hockey jersey. I was asked if I had been to any other bars that night, when I had not been. I hadn't even been drinking beforehand. The doorman said I was a liar because I was wearing a hockey jersey and said that I was too intoxicated because I handed him my ID upside down and wouldn't look him in the eye. Unbelievable!
My friends and I will be avoiding the Firkin pubs henceforth,
***PS The Firkins in Toronto don't have much to offer. Innocuous, overpriced pub grub and the least interesting beer selections one could imagine. The Cineplex theatres have a better menu in my humble opinion.
Anyway my friends and I headed down to Hair of The Dog a couple blocks south off of Yonge street and had a much better time there. It had a better selection, more people and a better vibe overall. Perhaps it was for the better I didn't get into Firkin.
