  • The only good thing about renting from Budget was the car we received. Everything from the moment we got off the plane to go to the car rental area was very inconvenient and we were misled about some charges. From all the negative reviews on here, I can understand how and why we received terrible service also. We took a family vacation to Arizona to see a Cardinals game and to visit numerous cities around the area over Christmas vacation. When we arrived at the rental area I noticed a long line of people waiting to rent cars. I would say it was at least thirty people deep and much to my surprise and disappointment there were only 4 agents working! (On a holiday travel weekend, unacceptable!) After waiting an hour in line, we spoke to an agent who was very nice, but we were misled on charges. When I originally booked the car I told the agent I was a UPS employee and asked about discounts and he told me I get a discount and sent me a quote. I ended up modifying the rental to change from a car to an SUV. The price was actually cheaper to get a SUV, so I changed it. We were in a terrible rush to get to the football game and considering this was our first time in Arizona we had no idea how long we would be stuck in traffic or how congested the parking area was by the stadium and it was a 27 minute drive to get there. The agent asked us if we wanted liability insurance on the car and we agreed to that. We were quoted a price of $361.00 with a $200.00 deposit which totaled $561.00. We were fine with that price of $361.00 but unfortunately that's not what we paid. When we dropped the car off the return agent told us our total for the rental was $491.00. We were confused considering we agreed to the $361.00 but when we looked at our final bill we noticed a damage/loss waiver that we never agreed to and was put on the bill at $34.99 per day! Also, there is no sign of any discount for being a UPS employee. We paid the remaining balance and the return agent told us we would need to talk with an agent upstairs to dispute the charges. When we got upstairs, what do you know, the line was around 30 deep again. We didn't have time to sit in line again for an hour to dispute the excess charges because we had to catch our flight. We felt taken advantage of and customer service is non existent. After I returned home I received an email for a survey and I filled it out with mostly negative remarks. About a day later I received an email back from a manager asking if I could elaborate on our negative experience. I sent an email about as long as this post hoping I would get some kind of feedback from her, but I never received an apology or any kind of compensation. Never EVER again we will rent from Budget and I strongly encourage everyone who rents from them to beware of extra charges, making time to stand in line and get poor misleading customer service. Find another rental company!!
