 | - It has been a personal goal of mine to hit every Indian buffet Pittsburgh has to offer, and Coriander was next up on the list. First off, the interior and decor definitely lack appeal and gave off a semi-depressing atmosphere to me. The service quality was average. Our waitress fulfilled the minimum requirements without much conversation and let us do our own thing which was fine with me.
The buffet size and variety is limited. It has the basic Indian buffet items (Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Samosas, etc.) but nothing special beyond that. They offered only one dessert option (Gulab Jamun) and watermelon aside from the hot entrees and salad. The staff would wait until the last possible second to refill empty trays with a fresh batch. I was chomping on the last dry bits of rice before more came out - yes, I was that hungry! Most of the buffet items are vegetarian, so I had no issues with having enough to eat; although, a lot of the options were very greasy, even more than usual for Indian food. Aside from a few bumps, the overall quality was on par with its competitors. Coriander failed to stand out to me in a good way, and for about $12 for a dinner buffet, I would rather dine at All India and Taj Mahal for a wider selection at similar quality and price. Off to the next Indian buffet!
