This place is the worst!!! This is a prime example of a rip-off hipster market once again ripping off passive health seeking Torontonians. Got a few things and a chocolate croissant. I previously had a couple decent experiences with their house-made sweets. I purchased the croissant and took a bite. It was beyond stale and crumbly. The chocolate was brittle. No big deal I thought. I'll just take it to the staff and get my money back. I took the pastry back to the cashier and told him. The cashier was a handsome brown hipster wearing a hoodie. He was smug and his vibe was beyond irritating.
Me- "This is not at all what a croissant should taste like."
Hipster cashier- "Oh, you don't like chocolate?"
Me- "I love chocolate but this is dry and just doesn't taste good at all."
Hipster cashier- "I'm sorry to hear that but it was baked today"...blank irritated stare at me. Awkward silence.
Later that day, I left a message with the owner and told him I wanted to discuss an experience I had in his store. No response. He never bothered calling back.
I highly don't recommend this place. Especially when there are FANTASTIC health food stores with sweet caring owners at pretty much every other health food store in Kensington market. Ones that truly care about their customers and have ethics without price gouging on the exact same items that are cheaper and less pretentious. Avoid at all costs.
