I have only started shopping at thrift stores for the past year and half and I can tell you the prices has really changed since I started. This Value Village has gotten horrendous with their prices.
Here you will worn out clothes at premium prices and old household goods for more than what it would cost to buy them new. In the household area you will find pots with missing lids for $12.99, mugs for $3.99, teacups (not even the nice ones) for $6.99 and a lot of broken, dirty and chipped things.
The past 5 times I have been here I only found 1 sweater for $16.99 and I consider that pretty expensive thrift store prices. If I find something even halfway decent, the price is way more that I would pay for used goods, especially with the condition of most of the stuff.
Value Village is also a for profit business. This is not a charity shop. They do donate a small fraction of what they make to Canadian Diabetes but at the end of the day they are selling goods that are donated for premium prices and banking most of it. They are greedy.
I no longer donate here seeing that they overprice their items. I don't want someone else to pay $9.99 for my used Forever 21 shirt when I bought it a few years ago for for $15.00.
I have also seen used Walmart (George brand) dresses for $16.99, Banana Republic dresses starts at $23.99, H&M for $16.99 - oh and Jacob clothes... like come on $18.99 for a used Jacob dress? There is a reason why Jacob went out of business - their clothing isn't great.
I have posted some photos to give you an idea. So don't waste your time here. The only WOW you will be getting are the ridiculous prices!
