| - In moving from LA to Vegas, I needed my car smogged in order to have it registered ~ with a quick check on Yelp, I was all over this place.
I came in and checked in for the $9.99 smog deal (which is killer, considering it cost $40 in LA). I thought for sure they were going to try to sell me something else; or since my car was a hybrid, it would cost extra. I wasn't sure how they were going to divide me from my money, but I was sure it was going to happen.
When the car was finished being smogged, the mechanic called me outside to tell me that my air filter was pretty dirty and probably needed to be replaced and they could replace it for $39. I politely declined and he was totally fine with that, he said he just thought I should know.
Ha! I thought. Not going to get me!
Then I went to pay for my smog... the $9.99.... here was the bomb~ they gave me the smog for FREE. I was so confused. Free? The receptionist only asked that if I'd received good service to write them a review. (Literally free. Not even a penny. No tax, zilp, zilch, nada.)
Now I feel downright sheepish. I was so sure my bill was going to be more than the $9.99. The fact that they not only didn't raise the price, but gave it to me for free was nuts. I guess I've become jaded and skeptical because of all the shady LA mechanics I've had the misfortune of dealing with in the past, that I really didn't know how to react when I was treated like a valued customer and future client.
Needless to say, their customer-relation building technique is on point! know where I'll be getting my car serviced from now on!
