Just finished my takeout meal from Halal guys. If you're looking for an authentic greek gyro experience, you will be disappointed. It will not satisfy anyone who has had a memorable gyro.
Here are a few pointers for the Halals. (1) gyro meat is not good when cut and left to sit in a condiment table.
(2) pita slices grilled are horrible and hard when left to sit.
(3) shredded iceberg lettuce cant be the overwhelming part of your meal.
(4) the meat portions need to be adjusted or the prices. Both of my meals were skimpy.
IMO......gyros need to be made with fresh cut meat off the hot slab with a sprinkle of lettuce, tomato, onion and yogurt sauce. We had a large platter, gyro, fries and 1 coke....25.00
Note: i actually liked their rice! Not sure what type it is but it was good.
The fries were standard krinkle cut and were ok. I'll check them out again once they get things worked out.
