| - I booked a room at Moxy off of the Marriott site after basically no research. I drove to Tempe from Orange County to watch some spring training baseball and escape life for a while. When I got to the hotel tired and pretty worn out from my week and the drive. I walk in....and find out that I check in at a bar, not a stuffy check-in counter. I'm offered a seat at said bar, and a complimentary drink. I look beyond the bar and see a huge mural of Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time), and friendly, fun decor everywhere. Starting to get happy, forgetting long drive and long week.
I get to my room. More happiness. It's bright and clean and well-lit. And...there is an acoustic guitar hanging on the wall (I play. Badly, but I play). And...there is a record player along with copies of Led Zeppelin II, Van Halen I, and Dark Side Of The Moon. Heaven.
This place struck a major chord (pun intended) with the guitar-playing classic rock loving dork in me. But in all fairness I can't give it five stars only because of that. I'm rating it this way because It was the opening night of the first MOXY location in the US, and the folks working there killed it. Friendly, customer-oriented, fast, and cool. They were on top of everything, and were service-oriented at every point. I will definitely be back.
