  • Upon receiving a recommendation for the Cantina, we decided to try it out. We arrived right at five and the doors were still locked. Clearly staff were inside, but no one came to the door and said anything to the effect of, "Oh sorry, we're running a few minutes behind, do you mind giving us five minutes?" Nothing, nada. Okkk. (And it was HOT out.) So we took a spin around the block, no problem. The place was open when we got back and we got two prime time bar seats and were good to go. I ordered a glass of the red sangria and Dave ordered a margarita. We also got some chips and pico de gallo. It was all good. The bar is tiny-- I can't imagine it seats more than ten. There is space in the back too, but we didn't really see anyone going to hang there. Like I said, we were there very early and I'm sure as the night goes on that back space is probably hopping. However, back space or not, the place is pretty little. It definitely seemed like a neighborhood-y place, everyone seemed to know other and clearly seemed to be glad to be at happy hour. The prices weren't bad-- $4 margaritas and sangrias during happy hour (normally I think they run $6-7) and the pico and chips were cheap (around $3.50?). I wish there was a Cantina-esque place closer to were I live in Regent Square, because that would definitely be fun! The clientele is decidedly hipster and everyone there (patron and staff alike) seemed to be enjoying themselves. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back, but if I find myself in this neighborhood again, I will certainly stop in for another refreshing sangria!
