| - I actually asked the tech from this company to leave my home. He was so argumentative and incompetent, and I felt like all he wanted to do was deny any kind of warranty work so he could go home. We've had multiple HVAC companies tell us our duct work was not properly installed and thus restricted airflow. American Home Shield sent CMC out to follow up on another service call where the full diagnosis to them was left of the report (poor ducting). Our contract with AHS specifically states that they will correct incorrectly installed duct work, so I asked them to send out another tech to look again and report back on what the original contractor failed to report to them. The tech from CMC said our duct work was a mess, but correcting it WOULD NOT improve the situation. He closed half the registers in the part of the house that wasn't having problems, and then went into one of the low-flow bedrooms, put his hand in front of the vent, and said it was better. I felt it- it was NOT better. I asked him if he had a velocimeter so he could prove to me that the air flow was fine, because it didn't feel any better to me, AND now we had less air flow in the rest of the house due to the closed registers! He told me he didn't have one and wouldn't test it. I used to work for an air balancing company. I'm not an idiot! At this point, I was getting frustrated and angry because I could tell he just didn't want to do the work so I asked him to leave. He made no effort to amend the situation. He just said, "fine" and left.
Today I had a different, AMAZING company, Day & Night Air Conditioning come in and redo our duct work on our own dime. They are aptly named because the air flow improvement is like night and day compared to what it was before. I will be submitting a complaint to American Home Shield about Consolidated Mechanical and their continuing to use such a horrible company. We have sold our house, and we will NOT be buying our next warranty, nor the one for our buyers, from American Home Shield, nor will we ever use or recommend Consolidated Mechanical.
