I went to global bikes because I sometimes bike with their group on Sunday mornings which is a good group to ride with. I had good experiences in the past good customer service when I purchased items there. I took my bike in to change the gear cassette and the guy that first helped me seemed very knowledgeable and told me that they would probably put on a new chain at the same time. I was okay with that. When I went in to drop off my bike a different guy stated that I needed a tune up with this service, really ?? I am thinking you are putting on new gears and chain that you would make sure it shifts correctly right?? Isn't that part of the service, I have to pay extra for that. So I didn't opt for the tune up since I felt they should make sure the bike shifts correctly without having to pay extra for the tune up. This did not make sense and I should have left at that point but wanted to give them the business because they had treated me right before. By the way, I have a bike shop right up the street that could have done this service but I felt that they were too commercial. They called and stated that my bike was ready. I went to pick it up and it was cheaper than I hadI expected so I asked is everything okay and it is good to ride right? Sure thing it is good. So I left I get home and look at the receipt it states. Did test ride needs new chain, doesn't shift right. Really? No call telling me this prior. I okayed a new chain you had the bike apart! ! I have though about bring it back but because this place is not very convenient and are they really going to fix it. My bike has been sitting because I can't ride it until I can get it fix properly. Nice owners and sales people but their service department needs work. I have referred a lot of people to them for new bikes because of their knowledge, not so much anymore. Now I have to make time to get me bike fixed so I too can enjoy some rides this summer.
