  • Nearly a year ago my beagle mix had begun scratching her skin repetitively to the point of causing severe open wounds all over her face. I took her to our regular vet, who ran every single test and prescribed us every single medication and shampoo there is to offer. Nothing worked. We changed her food multiple times, at the recommendation of the vet, and still no luck. After about 7 months of my poor baby living with a cone around her neck, we finally took matters into our own hands and called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Trimmer. I didn't know what to expect upon arrival. My regular vet had mentioned that Dermatology Vets are very expensive, and to be prepared for that, but that was all I really knew. I arrived with my dog on a Saturday appointment, which the office so kindly was able to fit me in for, since at the time I worked weekdays. The office is well-kept, clean, and very spacious, and the staff is pretty friendly. I haven't interacted much with the front office staff, so I can't say much about them, but Dr. Trimmer and every single nurse or assistant that has helped me have been top notch! Dr. Trimmer seems very genuinely concerned about the health and well-being of not just my beagle mix, but also my other dog at home. She really takes her time with us while we're there, and I feel like she really listens to my concerns and what I have to say. In fact, one Saturday a few months ago, the office was getting ready to close for the day, but Dr. Trimmer and her staff stayed open just so we could have allergy testing and a steroid bath done. I really admired that they did that for us/her! It has been a very long process, and it seems that we are still on the path to try and figure out exactly what is triggering her scratching, but my baby is so much happier and healthier because of them. The only drawback is that my regular vet was right- they are very expensive! I don't think we've ever had an appointment with them that's been less than $400, so keep that in mind. However, these appointments have been very in-depth, usually consisting of testing, multiple medications, bathing, etc. I'm sure that costs vary depending on the issue your pet is having, but I do know the consultation fee itself is over $100, so keep that in mind too. Overall, I highly recommend these guys to anyone and everyone. Heck, if she were just a regular vet and didn't specialize, I'd probably make her my regular vet too, cause she's just that good. Go- you won't be disappointed.
