Charlotte restaurant week is here again and this time around I came here to Aria with my fiancé. The appearance of the place was very nice. Dressy casual attire. I liked that they had complementary valet parking too. The food itself was decent. I had the steamed mussels as an appetizer and this was actually really good. I got it with the white wine sauce. My fiancé had the Margherita pizza, and there wasn't anything separating it from your average pizza, taste or presentation wise. The meals themselves were average in my opinion. There are certain things worth critiquing. My fiancé had the penne Ala vodka and added chicken. When it came out it was just a chicken breast on top of the pasta, and not mixed in. Not to mention they charged almost $5 for this piece of chicken. My meal was good. I had the lamb bolognese. The only thing I didn't like was that the lamb wasn't the prominent part of the dish. I was expecting some decent pieces of lamb, but instead is was grounded and mixed in with the red tomato sauce with the pasta. The desserts were good, my fiancé really enjoyed the hazelnut cake. I have been to better Italian restaurants in Charlotte, but I may come back here for lunch one day if I'm in the area in the future.
