| - I had an occasion this week, for which I felt an edible arrangement would be the perfect gift.
I called on Sunday at 2:45 pm (they are open until 3 pm on Sundays), and waited on hold for 15 minutes, before the voicemail finally kicked in and told me they were now closed. Obviously, they went home early, but didn't change the voicemail to notify customers. That was very frustrating, as I had hoped for delivery on Monday.
Their Monday hours are 8 am - 7 pm. So on Monday I called to ask if I could place an order and pick it up at about 5:30 pm. Only after I placed an order, was I told that I'd have to come by 4 pm that day, as they were closing early...! They also told me that I could just pick something from the fridge there - but only after asking several questions did I learn that there is a bit of a cost-savings by doing this. They were not forthcoming with this information.
I did go over at about 1 pm, and found the offerings in the fridge to be quite limited. I found one large arrangement, and about 4 small arrangements. When I asked when they were made, I was told "they were all made today... well except that one on the bottom, that's old, we have to throw it out". (So throw it out then!? Instead, she just shoved it further back in the fridge...?).
At $75+, the arrangement really doesn't contain all that much fruit, and the container it was in looked pretty cheap. I think anyone with a bit of time could make something just as beautiful, for a fraction of the price.
The packaging of the arrangement I chose was quite sticky on the outside. When I asked if there was a box or bag I could put around it, the girl just said no very quickly, without trying to offer any suggestions (I'm sure they must have boxes in the back from fruit deliveries?).
The concept is great, and it's a unique idea... but the customer service was completely lacking, and the whole business just felt tired and sad. I love the idea, but c'mon, please implement it a bit better!
