| - I have been here before, and I am a huge fan of kyara, their sister restaurant, but last night's visit made me have a second thought on this place.
First, we ordered a 'premium' chirashi bowl. When we usually order this, it is generous portion of 'premium' fish. However, although the portion was pretty good, the quality of the fish was not so good. Uni-which they only gave us one piece, when usually two, was very fishy, and their shrimp was horribly sweet as well as their tamago. Salmon was one piece cut into two small pieces, and I could tell because i saw the knife mark. Overall flavor of the rice too was WAY TOO SWEET. The furikake that they put on the rice was overwhelming that we had to remove all the top part of the rice; however, the fish that was covering the rice was already absorbing all the sweetness so it was too late. We also ordered natto maki and mentaiko & ika maki. Those were not too bad, but we have had better natto that the ones at NF.
Also, their service was just HORRIBLE. The server doesnt even greet us and asks us to order. We order one item and he just leaves the table- and that was how the whole serving went last night. We ordered cold sake, and the ice hole had one single ice in it. One ice probably won't keep a sake cold enough. Also, he would just leave the bottle at the corner of the table, not saying anything, so we didnt even realize the bottle was there. When it got to be HH, we had to ask for the menu, but the server never came to the table to take our order but he did make sure to go around and check on the other tables. We ended up ordering through their manager, who when we complained about the service, just didn't care at all and took our menu away. Surprisingly, we received our orders, but we were so ready to leave the place.
There are so many restaurants recently opening with better quality and service. No wonder why Naked Fish gets slower everytime I go.
Ps) some of their items on happy hour menu are offered at same price as their regular menu.
