  • Love Vons but on weekend nights they only have one cashier and if you have a long grocery list other customers start to give you dirty looks-like its my fault!? Hello? Open up more registers! Having said that, I do have fav items that I only go here for-that I do recommend: The Olive Bread at the bakery is fabulous. it comes in a whole loaf, ask the baker to slice it up for you better than doing it at home. Toast it and serve with tapenade, jalapeño cream cheese, butter or (Trader Joe's Roasted Red Pepper spread-OMG you will die. Seriously you will thank me). Also try the chicken salad at the deli. Lemon scones in the bakery are really good too as well as their blueberry muffins, but the scones are hard to find especially at this location. The major disappointment is when you get hooked on something and they no longer carry it. Like the chocolate dipped raspberry ice cream bars-OMG I miss those. Or if they carry an item at one store and not at the other. The one thing I do have to say about Vons/Safeway is the wonderful customer service. I wish the other chains would benchmark.
