| - If you are a tourist or a first timer at red rock, odds are you will relish the scenic loop with the great scenery. If you are a seasoned veteran of Red Rock, this drive can be very aggravating. While there are many nice aspects of the drive, which the other reviewers discuss, there are many faults as well.
To begin the drive you have to stop at the toll booth to pay a fee, fee depends on type of vehicle, if you are a senior citizen, if you are on a bike, and etc. There are three booths that handle all transactions. There are usually long lines to enter the park. For people that have annual passes whether if they are for just Red Rock itself, or all other national parks, they have to wait in long lines even though they just show their pass and are through in a matter of seconds. It would be a great addition and convenience if one of the booths was converted to an express lane for people with passes.
Problem #2
Say you are climbing at the first pull out. After a long hard days worth of climbing you usually want to go back to your hotel or home and eat and take a shower. Unfortunately for you though you have to drive all the way through the 13 mile loop to get out. (There is a rumor that an exit road is going to be built from the third pull out)
Problem #3
Tourists. There are many cars that travel on this road. Many like to drive slow and take in the beautiful surroundings. Many like to stop to take pictures. I have no problem with people taking in the scenery but please do not inconvenience all of the drivers behind you. If you are going to drive slow, drive close to the right shoulder so faster cars can pass you. Do not stop in the middle of road to take pictures! Pull over!
The scenic drive is something worth checking out while you are in town. Just please show/use common courtesy while you visit,
