| - I really love this record store!
I have been building a collection of classical vinyl from a particular label, series, and date range. I have bought several of these at second hand bookstores for as little as $1.00 simply out of pure luck. Others are a little more elusive and priced accordingly when you do see them at online record sites or auction.
I came into the store having decided to look for a few titles on my wish list, but also knowing that I would pay market price for them. I was also ready to walk out empty handed.
I introduced myself immediately to the owner. I really enjoyed meeting him and working with him. He's very direct, has a sense of humor, is very knowledgeable. Typical northeastern demeanor.
I was directed to the section of interest to me. It was very well organized and I began setting aside albums on my want list to take a closer look at (condition of jacket and vinyl, the specific label on the record (there were 4 used at different periods which help date the record), stamper numbers, etc. I knew I didn't want to walk out of the store with every one I had set aside. I decided on three.
Went up to the counter, my prices in mind, showed them to Mr. Rosen to let him tell me his price. I already knew market value for these specific records. Agreed on the few that I really wanted. Left a very happy customer with mint condition vintage vinyl for my particular collection.
I would definitely come back. Mr. Rosen is very knowledgeable about records. He has a great selection. Very high quality vinyl. Very clean store. A blast to pick through. He cut me a deal on three titles I bought as a package.
It's all about the hunt. Maybe you'll find a gem here you've been looking for? Whether you buy it here or online, you'll probably pay what it is worth. That's fair.
