| - I like this theater a lot. I have been in for a handful of shows now. The seating is nice and comfy. The theater itself it very nice. The walls are painted with a nice color theme, and the ceiling is twinkling with star lights.
The sound and acoustics here are amazing for seeing live music. The space is not too large, so even at the furthest spot, you have a great view. I like to snag a spot in the balcony. If you're first or second row of the balcony, you have the best view in the house!
It's a great venue for stand up comedy, too. Again, since it's not huge, you don't ever get that feeling like you're watching an ant on stage. No matter where you sit, you are still pretty close.
Shows at the Barrymore definitely give you that intimate feeling, and that's what I like best about seeing people perform here.
Parking can be tricky. There are a couple of United Way lots within a couple blocks that you can usually park in (for evening/weekend shows, they are reserved Mon-Fri til 5pm) and there is usually ample parking behind the Kennedy Place Apartments as well (there is an office building that is closed in the evening back there - that's where I usually park). There are a few bars around the area too if you want to come early for parking and need to fill the gap with a drink or two. Don't park in the lot by Player's though - it's not actually Player's lot, and you will get towed!
