I just had a satisfying lunch at Magic Noodle (Lanzhou beef noodle soup). It's the downtown location of the nascent chain of the same name with locations in the suburbs. The noodles were expertly pulled and cooked to order and thus have that addictive chewy texture. Another good sign is that the soup does not have any alkaline after taste, which unfortunately plaques too many noodle/ramen shops. The portion was also very good. Only complaint is that while the soup is authentic tasting, it is too salty and has perhaps just a little too much MSG, characteristic of Chinese mainland noodle soups. A little less heavy handed and it'd be perfect. Will return and rate again.
