| - This is the sort of "special find" of a coffee shop. I wasn't expecting to find a "hipster" or "Indie" style coffee shop in the bland financial/business district of Phoenix downtown, but I'm sure glad I happened upon this spot. Thanks, Yelp! I needed a mid-afternoon pick-me-up/cool-me-down, and an iced latte was calling my name.
With loads of outdoor and indoor seating, plus an easy-to-read menu and plain-to-see food/pastry case, One Coffee Co. does a good job setting the stage for you to feel comfortable, even if you're not accustomed to this more "passionate" kind of coffee shop and you're more of a Starbucks person. Don't let the tattooed and seemingly (but not at all) aloof staff put you off - they're passionate about their craft and eager to help you choose your perfect beverage. Personally, I think you need a "Miel Latte" - honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. I did mine iced and with almond milk! Of course, you could choose hot and normal or soy milk if that's your preference.
I didn't opt for any food while I stopped in, but they do have a full complement of local, fresh pastry items, made-to-order panini, and fresh fruit. There is ample seating indoors, both at tables and at a few couches. Their Wifi is complimentary and reliably fast enough to fart around on your phone or tablet.
As a special mention and thank you to the staff, they are an honest bunch. Moments after polishing off my iced latte, the heat still must have been getting to me, because I left the store without grabbing my purse. Fortunately, just a block after leaving, I realized, and ran back to the shop. To my delight and relief, the nice gal who was behind the counter had rescued my purse, and handed it to me with a genuine smile when I flew back into the shop. Kudos!
