  • I took two BMWs here within the past 2 weeks. Bad luck with fender benders in September. I would probably give them an average of 2.5 stars but that wasn't an option. Here's a summary of why: - Car 1: Was hit in the rear of my X5M (minor bumper damage and tailgate dent). The work on the bumper and tailgate turned out great. Probably 4.5 out of 5. That was paid for by insurance. But I also had them repaint my rocker panels and rear fender flares which were badly rock chipped (previous owner didn't clear bra). That turned out HORRIBLE (maybe half a star). They sanded and painted but apparently didn't feel that the chips should be filled and smoothed. So I was left with nice shiny black paint but with a bunch of obvious painted over rock chips. Tyler at Gerber (good guy) seemed genuinely embarrassed and didn't charge me for that work. You get what you pay for. But I would have preferred to pay for quality. Anyway, I clear bra'd over it and can live with it. Didn't feel like getting back into a rental. Another nuisance is that when I arrived to pick it up they were still working on it. I have spent way too much time in their lobby the past to weeks. - Car 2: this time a front bumper bump which required replacement. Also a piece of the grill broke off on the freeway and put scuffs on the hood. I'd give them maybe 4 out of 5 for paint work. The bigger issue is I was told the car would be ready to pick up between 12:30 - 1. I arrived around 12:45. The car didn't even get pulled around until about 1:40. The bumper had one little spot that needed extra attention, no biggie. But they didn't even touch the scuffs on the hood or some other scuffs they said they'd work on. So back it goes. Car finally comes back at 2pm. Now with buffing wheel swirls on the hood. At this point I was already an hour late for a clear bra appointment so I left. The car was also pretty dirty, dusty and had white wax lines everywhere. BTW, car 1 also came back dusty. Bottom line, if you are going to tell a customer the car will be ready by a certain time, make damn sure it is and that everything has been completed. Or at least call so customer doesn't have to spend hours in your lobby. Even worse, I don't think Gerber has a Quality Assurance process. Or at least they don't follow it. Finally, if you do go here, make sure you pay a lot of attention to detail on your vehicle. Because Gerber won't. Hopefully there's no next time but if there is, I'll try Ric's
