| - Oishii is the only legitimate option for sushi in Oakland. I have eaten at Sushi Boat across the street and oishii is as good as sushi boat is bad. Oishii is a "fast food" type asian place but the fish is extremely fresh. My favorite items on the menu are the rainbow roll ($8.50), spicy tuna ($4.75) and the oishii roll ($8.75).
The rainbow roll is standard with a california roll topped with tuna, snapper, shrimp, eel, yellowtail, and salmon. The Oishii roll is a huge inside out roll that has shrimp tempura on the inside and topped with smoked salmon covered in a house special sauce which seems to be spicy mayo. The rainbow roll and oishii roll are a bit more expensive but are specialty rolls. When comparing these specialty rolls to other restaurants, Oishii's are much, much cheaper. One caveat: Oishii's rice is very sweet and most rolls are made using a lot of rice; this can make the rolls more filling, which to me is a good thing. Normally my girlfriend and I can share three rolls and be full. Food and price wise, I would give Oishii Bento 5 stars, but without waiter service it seems unfair to grant it a perfect 5.
Also, Oishii is normally filled with Asians, who I assume know Asian food. I would take their word for it.
