  • Let me start by saying that if after reading all of the reviews that preceded mine, you still aren't convinced to hire Bob, then you need to head over to his YouTube channel and watch the before and after videos of his previous clients. Before I met Bob, I had a 5-month-old GSD that would pull like a sled dog while on leash. In addition to that he would pay absolutely no attention to me when approach by a stranger, another dog, or a child. He barked when I wouldn't let him go over to something that interested him, he couldn't sit still for more than three seconds, and he most definitely wouldn't reliably come when I called. The four weeks that followed after deciding to hire Bob looked like this: Week 0: I had a 30-minute phone consultation with Bob. These consultations are free, and in most cases, the best route to take. Bob has been through the ringer. Chances are he will know the problems your dog is exhibiting before the words even come out of your mouth. However, I highly recommend you take the free consultation and explain briefly, and to the point, exactly what you want to work on when you and Bob meet. That's what I did, and after those 30 minutes on the phone with him I was confident that I would have a well-trained off leash dog (spoiler - I now do). I decided to enroll Leo (my dog) in his 4 lesson off leash program. All that was left to do was wait until Week 1. Week 1: Bob met me at a great dog park. I say that to mean that the location was easy to get to and a halfway point between him and I. He arrived right on time, introduced himself, and got to work. I loved the fact that he didn't waste any time. After introductions, he popped open the box for the e-collar, which was to be Leo's new best friend. He gave me a quick rundown of exactly how it functions, how to charge it, and how to properly fit it on Leo's neck. Once I understood that, he instructed me to place it on Leo's neck, checked that it was snug enough, and told us to start walking. He followed right beside me and told me exactly where Leo needed to be positioned when walking, what command to use to get him to start walking, and when to use the e-collar to correct his positioning and obedience. After 30 minutes of heeling, on leash, Leo was walking along my side reliably. I was shocked that even after just 30 minutes my dogs pulling, lunging at people, and unstructured walking tendencies were fixed. I was instructed to practice what we learned Week 1 and come back Week 2 ready to learn more. Week 2: Again, I met Bob at the same location as week one. He was on time, again. We worked heel for about 20 minutes and then went right into the "Sit-Stay" command. Bob coached me on how to teach Leo to reliably sit and stay as I walked away. We worked this for the remainder of the lesson and again, I was instructed to practice during the week before Week 3. I actually moved between Week 2 and Week 3 and asked Bob if we could meet at a location closer to my new home. It was a further drive for him but he couldn't have been more accommodating and agreed to meet me at a new park. Week 3: You've probably noticed a pattern here. Bob was on time once again and we got right to work. We reviewed what we had learned in Weeks 1 and 2. After demonstrating Leo's ability to effectively heel and Sit/Stay off leash, but coached me on recall. We worked this for the remainder of the lesson, I was told to practice this between Week 3 and 4, and meet at the same time next week. Week 4: This was Leo's time to really shine. We ended up going to a public park where a farmer's market was happening. The goal here was to put Leo in a situation where he had the potential to be very distracted. We walked all around the farmer's market, Leo being challenged by other dogs, children, and birds. He stuck true to all of his training and heeled like I expected him to. We practiced recall, sit/stay, and heeling all around the park for the entire hour without Leo going against his training once. This was when Bob's work really shined. It was a perfect lesson to sum out all that him and I learned, only to reassure me for the 100th time that my investment in Leo's education was money well spent. In summation: I know this has probably been more than you had wanted to read but my goal here was to give you insight on what each lesson would be like with Bob and what exactly you should expect when you hire him. Throughout our training, Bob talked to me like a human being, offered advice when it was needed, and was constantly in touch via email or phone if I had questions or concerns in between each lesson. This man knows what he's doing.
