  • We came on a Thursday around 6:00 during Pittsburgh Restaurant Week.. I should have made a reservation because the place was booked until 9pm that evening. My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to find a spot at the bar. The overall atmosphere in Toast! Was really relaxing and calm. The dark colors, the lighting and the fact that some tables in the restaurant were basically couches with a coffee table. Their draft selection was decent- My boyfriend and I both ordered an East End Brewery draft and enjoyed it. We ordered corn bread and jalapeno candied butter, roast pork flatbread and their "Nashville" fried chicken and shared everything. I loved the corn bread and butter! It was something so simple and so perfect. The cornbread was awesome and didn't fall apart too easily and the butter had a spicy jalapeno kick and complimented the corn bread perfectly. The roast pork flatbread was great also. From the description, I thought of it as being more sweet, due to the maple syrup, but it wasn't too sweet. The slaw went well with the pork. I like flatbreads with a little more sauce on them and would have liked something extra on this, but it was overall pretty good. The "Nashville" fried chicken came with 4 pieces of fried chicken, mac and cheese and greens. The chicken was drizzled with a balsamic type glaze. I had high expectations for this meal. Although it was good, it wasn't anything spectacular or unique. The mac and cheese wasn't as cheesy as I had hoped and was lacking flavor. The greens were tasty and went well with the chicken. The fried chicken was decent- crunchy and flavorful, but didn't impress me too much. Our service was great- the bartenders were very friendly. I overall had a good time at Toast!, but probably won't be back unless I have a living social or groupon. I had a good time and enjoyed the food- but it wasn't that memorable of an experience. Also- keep in mind that they do not have parking. We were able to find parking easily on the street and it was free since it was after 6 =].
