  • Okay, this hospital review is based on personal experience from early January. I have a neurological disorder, no insurance and I was starting to have weird symptoms. My GP recommended that I get checked in to an ER so they would run an MRI on me and I could put off paying it for a while. I picked this hospital because it was in his system and the newest and near some friends' houses in case they needed me to stay overnight. This was the fundamental mistake, I should have gone to Sunrise or one of the bigger ghetto hospitals downtown. Well, to make a long story short: I spent like four hours in this ER. At first I was shuffled off onto an intern, who was nice enough as she ran me through the stroke diagnostics. At first she didn't see the obviously symptoms however, until she did and freaked out - and only then did the attending decide I was remotely interesting. He forced me to do a bunch of expensive tests I didn't need AFTER I found out that they send the MRI crew home at 3pm. At the time I wasn't that angry about it, because he put the fear of God into me that it was possible I had something seriously fucking wrong with my brain instead of The Usual In A New Way. And I was relieved to find out it my brain wasn't melting out of my head. Except then I got the bill. Basically, on a slow ER day, they ran me through a bunch of unnecessary tests that everyone involved knew weren't going to be real diagnostics of my problem, and they did jack me several thousand dollars. It sucked. This hospital is clean, though, and has free wifi. I can't rate the other amenities, I wasn't there long enough and don't plan on going back. So two stars for that.
