| - Who needs to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation down south if we've got the tropics right here in Cleveland? (ha!)
But seriously, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens provides a definite pick-me-up when the snow (or certain sports teams... ahem) get me down. The Glasshouse section is split into two sections, Costa Rica and Madagascar. The Cleveland sun warms the plants and there are waterfalls and rivers and butterflies and creatures and everything is beautiful and cheery.
In warmer months, the outside gardens come alive. My cousin got married there two years ago and it was the most beautiful wedding. Wedding in the garden, night time reception in the café area. I remember drunkenly stumbling around the gardens at night with my cousins. It was awesome. There are acres of trails outside, with sculptures and waterfalls. Its an extremely peaceful place on a quiet day.
If you're bringing the little ones, check out the children's garden. With a huge greenhouse, moat, and a fruit and vegetable garden, this area is seriously cool. They have an awesome easter egg hunt. And for the adults, in the summertime theres cocktails in the gardens. Well priced and using as many local ingredients as possible, this is a great idea for a date or catching up with a few friends.
Either way, go check out the gardens, unless you hate fun. And pretty things.
