This is how you know that Leslieville is gentrifying.
Went here on a brunch run to the Leslieville and decided to take a stroll in the neigbourhood.
This store, quaint, small, storefront looks like the tourist type you would see at Niagra-on-the-lake, kind of like the perennial Christmas store.
Went in and found out it's a tiny cubical counter with a large factory back. The front has two older white ladies packaging cookies for the woman in with the louis vuitton handbag. She was getting cookies for the holdiays..for a LOT of people. The total came up to tover 300$.
yes, that's the kind of money you throw down for shortbread.
But alas, tis not just merely shortbread. My friend called it "the best short bread" he has ever had. He described it as "Buttery without being too heavy; crunchy wihtout being thick (like the canned shortbread); a rich treat"
*Note that I would describe the taste myself but, to be honest, I hate shortbread and it tasted just like a pretty damn good cookie to me)
They have traditional shortbread cookies and some nummy flavors that include mint inspired and orange infused.
At , I think, a little over 2$ a cookie it's a nice small treat.
Get a couple cookies and walk down to Dark Horse for an espresso for a nice afternoon hangout with a friend.
