Now this is real southern bbq. I'm here visiting from NY, and wanted to find that genuine bbq experience. I don't need to look any further than this place.
When you walk in, you'll be amazed at how big this place is. Super clean, lots of seating and a large bar. The decor is pretty neat- bbq themed stuff (check out the ladies room- you will crack up!) also, according to my husband, slave leia from Star Wars is hanging in the men's room which is AWESOME.
Now let's get to the most important part- THE FOOD. We ended up getting the combo platter and selected the largest portion they offer which is called "pig out". You get to chose 4 proteins so we did the Carolina chopped pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken bbq, and the saint Louis style pork ribs. You also get a side of hush puppies with it and a It choice of two sides. We obviously picked the mac n cheese because who doesn't love that? The other side was the bacon wrapped jalapeƱos. I also ordered the smoked vegetables on the side because those sounded interesting. (Try the tangy mustard sauce, I put that on the chicken and was not disappointed at all). EVERYTHING we ate was fantastic.
The manager came over to us to say hello and also explained that the hickory wood is locally sourced, they don't use a gas smoker- This is the real thing here. We initially planned on wrapping half of our food for leftovers but we cleared our plates.
I would be doing this place an injustice if I didn't brag about the whiskey and bourbon menu. What's bbq without a good whisky on the side? It is pretty expansive with plenty of options to chose from. You can also pick your own flight!
Our waitress Erin was a doll. She went over the entire menu with us and was very knowledgeable and kind. Overall we were extremely impressed. We will be coming back when we are back in town.
