| - After our visit to The Grind, my wife & I gave the restaurant 2.5 stars. Since we can't give half a star, I am rounding down. There were a few positives, but they were all outweighed by dry burgers and high prices.
First off, the ambience is interesting. It is a long, rectangular room, which is somewhat fun. The area by the bar looks great, but we were seated by the back, which faced the kitchen. Although some restaurants have an open kitchen to show off the cooking, this was just a standard kitchen that was open for all to see. Not very appealing; it would have been much better if it was hidden from view.
Our first order was a local greens salad. The salad was good, and they had split it into two plates for us to share. While that was nice, we found out when we got our check that they had up-charged us $3 to split the plate and never told us. Had we known that, we wouldn't have split the plate. This was yet another disappointment in the evening.
Finally, our burgers arrived. I ordered the peppercorn burger and my wife had a turkey burger. Both were way too dry. My wife couldn't even tell if it was turkey... It almost tasted like a mystery meat from the middle school cafeteria. For the price that we paid for the burgers (including paying extra for cheese... Why isn't one slice included for each of the burgers?!?), I expected a whole lot better.
Overall, each part of the meal was disappointing. I'm not sure there were enough positives to bring me back for a second visit, either.
