  • I had a great time, check-in was smooth and fast. The energy from staff and racers was electric and everyone was hustling - my group was a beta test after all. Driver's meeting was fun and painless, as someone who's had high-performance driving experience I didn't find anything unimportant mentioned during the briefing and the instructor did a good job of maintaining the group's attention by involving us in the discussion so points to him. I had the opportunity to drive a Audi R8, mainly because I'm impatient and I noticed it wasn't getting any love (and with the fleet of cars SpeedVegas has I can sympathize) so I knew I'd get seat-time faster. My instructor was kind, very talkative which was nice, and relaxed which I feel is most important. I don't want to feel like I'm under the gun driving a high-performance vehicle I want to be relaxed and coached which is exactly what he did. On our warm-up lap he asked if I had any experience and I told him about my karting and SCCA experience to which he expressed his confidence to let me experience more of the limits of the R8 - hats off to him for not chopping my experience off at the knee-caps. The facilities, cars and track were all very clean and I had a fantastic time, as a petrolhead it's an exciting experience and one you shouldn't miss out on! I was told that they plan on expanding the track to have a longer section that branches off and away from turn 3 which is a very exciting idea to have more distance to cover in these awesome machines, however the 1/2 mile track that is there now is fast, fun and technical and I found myself reeling the R8 back in at times because it's a challenging course with every type of turn. On the cool-down lap he mentioned that he used to be a Porsche Racing school instructor and that if I got more seat-time in a high-performance vehicle he wouldn't be surprised if I found myself competing at a professional level. My ego was on Cloud 9 but part of me wondered if this was a ploy for me to come back and spend more money, I choose to believe both and I plan on coming back.
