| - Eh. I came here because a friend and I were reminiscing about Nora's wine bar and we were lamenting the fact that there aren't many wine bars in town. I love a good cocktail bar and the quality of the local breweries is spellbinding to me. Nonetheless, I am a total sucker for a great wine and cheese pairing.
I had come to La Cave many moons ago, for a private event and had thought the space was stunning. With that in mind, I suggested we come here for some wine and a snack. The restaurant, or rather the cave, is not quite as I remembered it but still gorgeous. Nice and cozy. PERFECT for a date night. Albeit an expensive one.
We both went with the sparkling wine flight, which offered 4-5 different types of sparkling wines, two champagnes included. We also ordered a bit of cheese with charcuterie, which was quite tasty.
We are both ones to linger over the conversation, perfect for nibbling on small bites and wine. Not so much with sparkling wine though. It took us a good hour to go through all of the tastings, and by the last few they were roo temperature. This our fault really. Red wine would have been a far better choice since we were going for a leisurely evening.
If you are on a date and have a quick hour for a snack, I would recommend that flight. The wine by the glass hovered around 20 dollars I think. A tad steep if you ask me, but then again I really doesn't have a pint of reference for wine in this city anymore. Anyway, if you have the money, it's nice. I think my total came to around 50 dollars. Nice ambience but a bit expensive for this gal.
