This was my very first visit to Takumi and I had chicken tempura udon for lunch.
I was looking for an authentic Japanese food experience and was excited to find this place in Madison.
The ambiance of the store was nice though I was seated at an awkward table which was in front of the entrance door.
The service was so so. I was not greeted at the entrance and it actually took more than five seconds for one of the waiters to notice me. I was promptly seated. However, through my meal alhtough I was offered water refills I was not once asked how my food was.
The udon broth tasted rather bland. It was just the noodles, broth and kamaboko. No green onions. The chicken tempura was crispy however, again bland to my taste. The mushroom and broccoli tempura had absorbed too much oil to my liking.
I have not tried any sushi. They might taste better, but I am not returning for any tempura nor udon.
