I was disappointed with a recent birthday cake purchase from Carl's Cakes. The cake inside was slightly stale. The "buttercream" frosting didn't taste much like buttercream frosting to me. It was a little better than the stuff you'd get on a grocery store cake, but not much better.
But the BIG reason for my disappointment was when I read the ingredient list. Two of the ingredients were hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. This has been conclusively tied to heart disease and there's no dissent in the scientific community about this. It's highly irresponsible of Carl's Cakes to be using these ingredients when substitutes are readily available.
