| - Came here with my boyfriend for Sunday brunch since it advertised being offered from 10am-2pm on Sundays. We arrived around 10:15am and tried to open the front doors but they were locked. We waited for a bit and nothing happened, so we were kind of mad, but so hungry we decided to walk over to the Egg and I. However, there was a huge line for it so we walked back to our cars hoping maybe the door was open and it was. But overall not a great start. We enter the restaurant and weren't greeted by the hostess, but rather just blankly stared at. We had to pause and say are you all serving brunch in order for her to acknowledge us. Then we were seated in the corner of the restaurant.
Granted this first impression was not good, but I was still hopeful as many of the reviews mentioned great food. So, since I was starved I was able to easily find what I wanted. The Avocado Salmon Toast. Our waitress came to our table looking a little exhausted, but with some fresh water and then disappeared for 15 minutes! I was literally about to leave and go to culvers across the way when she came back and finally took our order. Still! I was holding out for the food... and I'm sad to say it was not up to par.
-Avocado Salmon Toast: I didn't think you could really mess this up, but apparently so. The toast was over burnt, hard, and dry, the salmon was nicely stacked, but the hollandaise sauce was a little sourer than I'd like. I acknowledge that they probably put lemon in it to complement the salmon, but this was a different kind of sour....
-Pot Roast Hash: OIL OIL OIL. Or is it grease? Whatever it was, everything was soaked in it and you couldn't help but feel like you were drinking it, rather than eating the delicious mix of supposed ingredients.
I wanted to really like this place, but from the beginning to end I continued to lose my faith that this place would get better and now I don't have to come back for brunch. I've heard good things about dinner so....maybe once I've come back to my senses after this scaring experience I'll give it another chance.
