  • Last Friday, my boyfriend and I went to open lot to inquire about purchasing a vehicle. When we walked in we were offered a seat and told a sales person would be right with us. Neil came up to us and immediately began the application. He never asked what kind of car we were interested in purchasing or what price range we were looking for. We had him finish the application anyway because we knew we would have to do it at some point anyway, the sequence of service was just a little odd. Once the application was filled out, he got up and was talking to the general manager for a few minutes, he came back to the table that we were sitting at and told us they had a car that would be fitting for our financial situation and asked us to follow him outside. We followed him outside and once we got out to the lot he told us the stock number of the car and asked us to help in find the car, this was also odd as I have shopped for cars many times and have never been asked to help the sales person find the car that they were trying to sell me. We were not able to find the car on the lot so we went back inside and waited for the car to be found. Once the car was located, we went back outside to look at it and went on a test drive. My boyfriend ended up really liking the car and when we got back to the dealership, we proceeded with the paper work for the car. When we were asking questions, Neil seemed very reluctant to fully answer them. He never discussed the interest rate with us or anything and by the time the paper work was printed out we saw the true price of the car and it was somewhat off putting. After talking it over with each other, my boyfriend and I decided to move forward with the sale. We got everything ironed out and left the dealership with the car. Over the next few days we were waiting for the loan to be finalized by the bank so that we could get the green slip and register the vehicle. While waiting for that call, Neil called my boyfriend to ask him if he would be able to come back to the dealership to have the cars gps tracking "pinged" and that they also needed an additional check stub to give to the bank that was handling the loan. Today (one week after buying the car) my boyfriend went back to bring the additional pay stub and when he asked for Neil, he was told that Neil was off for the weekend but that the manager would be right with him. The manager came out to tell my boyfriend that the loan was not approved by the bank and that they would have to take the car back. When the manager started looking at the information on the computer and reciting it back to my boyfriend, he discovered that part of the application regarding his income was completely false. My boyfriend works two jobs, Neil had one job listed as his primary job and his other as a previous employer. Neil also reported that my boyfriend's monthly income was higher than it actually is which is obviously why the loan was denied. The manager seemed pretty irritated as we were and he did apologize but it seemed like this situation was something that he expected from Neil. As a manager, if you know that an employee is consistently filling out loan applications wrong and wasting customers time, why would you keep them on your staff? The entire process was a terrible waste of time. I do not recommend buying a car from this dealership, especially not from Neil. He knew that the loan was denied but had us driving the car and thinking we just needed to give them an additional pay stub. He lied to us saying that we needed to bring the car to have the gps pinged when really they needed us to come back to return the car. This company needs to be more straight forward with their customers. Being lied to when money is involved is by no means acceptable.
