  • //GETTING THERE\\ Don't be fooled by the internet photos, the facade of the hotel actually blends in well with surrounding buildings. Once you see it on Sherbrooke with Argoat on the right, to park you'll need to turn right on Rue St-Hubert then right again into the small back access road. Find the small parking area directly behind the hotel. Don't worry about blocking someone since you'll be leaving your car keys at the front desk. You can then go through the back door and walk up to the front desk to check in. At check in, they'll ask for your keys and license plate #, then hand you a tourist guide and map. They don't offer help with luggage, so if you brought a heavy suitcase and are not on the first floor, take your time going up the steps. //STAY\\ Because of the architecture, our 2 bedroom felt very spacious. Great ceiling height. Overall it was very clean. The light switches, however, were stained and smudged from accumulated dirt. The tub is large; the shower is a very small corner shower. They provide small blocks of artisan soap and liquid shampoo that smells and looks a lot like Palmolive dish detergent. The room was equipped with a small a/c unit that was probably too small for the room size. During the summer, if you're in a bigger room, it likely doesn't cool down as much as you'd like since you can't lower it beyond their restricted minimum. Even if the thermostat says 71F, it probably only cools down to 77F. I was surprised by how quiet the rooms were. I could occasionally hear other guests, but not as much as I had anticipated. Definitely quieter than your standard hotel. //CONVENIENCE\\ You can't easily take your car in and out of the parking lot like you would elsewhere, but Sherbrooke Station and bike rental are right across the street. Also, Rue Saint-Denis is not far with a plethora of restaurants and cuisines to choose from. Argoat is in a quieter part of Montreal, but it's definitely not far from anything. The front desk is manned 24/7, and the parking lot is in full view of their office, so there's always someone watching your vehicle. Also, there's a fridge and freezer on the first floor kitchen that you're welcome to use. //STAFF\\ The staff, for the most part, is very friendly. They seem to have a lot of people on rotation for such a small place, and we met only two who seemed a little uppity. But I think that's just Montreal attitude.
