| - After my daughter Abby (5 years old) spent 11 months at a previous martial art's place (LV Kung Fu Academy), we decided to look for one that actually TEACHES martial arts. We were blessed to find Spirit Taekwondo. This place is absolutely awesome!
Here are my reviews:
Instructors - there are not enough positive adjectives to describe Devin and Jasmine. They are both wonderful individuals -- extremely patient, and caring instructors. They have constructed an amazing curriculum for kids and adults.
Teaching - technique technique technique. As a parent, I appreciate that they take the time to work with students in group and individual settings. In a short 30-45 minutes, they do a great job of incorporating stretching exercises, group martial arts activities (kicking and punching), and practicing forms. They do an incredible job of breaking the movements down and articulating steps to do a proper kick or punch. As an example, they demo how to do it, have the students perform the action, they correct the student's mistakes, and have the students repeat. I emphasize again that they correct the mistakes to ensure that the students understand how to do a proper kick, block, or punch.
Room - the class room is a bit tight. However, it is extremely serviceable. Classes range in size (depending on the day and times). 1 - 30 kids in the class. When the class is large, I like the way that they have black belts supervising a group of 4-5 students. There is always someone watching to make sure things are in order, proper technique and form is completed, and safety is ensured.
Atmosphere - the kids respond well to the instructors. My daughter loves her instructors and looks forward everyday to come to class. This is AWESOME!! There is a lot of positive energy in the classroom. On top of this, they do teach discipline and preach that students abide by the core "Spirit" tenets (Courtesy, Humility, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit).
Overall, we love this place and highly recommend it. My daughter, Abby (5 yrs old), will be here for a long time and we look forward to enrolling our youngest daughter (Kayla) when she turns 4. We hope that Spirit stays open and be part of our children's lives for the foreseeable future. We love and trust the instructors and we hope they continue to do an awesome job!!
