Excellent music store in Toronto. Great selection of new CDs from a wide range of genres. Mostly focused on smaller 'indie' artists (vs. major label output), the store is really well organized for discovering new music.
They clearly display what they feel is the latest and greatest music out there, often in listening stations so you can hear before you buy.
They also sell tickets to most concerts in the city, which helps if you want to avoid ticketmaster hassle + service charges (Soundscapes does charge their own percentage fee on top of the tickets, but its usually reasonable).
Staff can be a bit aloof, as expected in a record store, but they are generally friendlier and more approachable than Rotate This.
A great place to get your hands and ears on new music, DVDs, books and magazines. One of the few places in the city that I seek out to discover new music, books or DVDs (rather than just discovering it online). They also have a section dedicated to local independent artists without labels or distribution. Often you can find beautifully hand crafted packaging or limited edition EPs that wouldn't easily be available elsewhere.
