  • DO NOT HIRE UMBRELLA MOVERS! The crew were friendly and SEEMED to be professional. However, when the moving company I hired to unload our things opened up the truck, it was clear The Umbrella Crew had been extremely careless when stacking and packing up our possessions. Our new, $1,400 King sized mattress/box springs were all but destroyed, left completely uncovered to get stained, crushed under boxes and torn in multiple places; our dining room table was uncovered, scratched up and it's chairs were badly damaged (one table leg was left to roll around the floor of the truck). In fact, nearly every wooden item (desk, dresser, bookcase, etc.) that your crew packed arrived with chunks busted off of them due to careless positioning and poor packing techniques (simply wrapping wooden furniture in a thin layer of plastic wrap does not protect them from damage). Our desk which was in perfect condition before the move was positioned up against a metal elliptical machine with no padding between them, which of course left multiple gouges/scratches in the wood.. Our microwave dropped off the top of a set of boxes and fell onto a metal ladder, cracking a chunk out of the door so it can no longer be used. Besides the larger items, many of our delicate items (china, dishware, collectables, antiques, framed art, etc) were packed in such a haphazard way that we were amazed that only a dozen or so of our fragile items were broken or damaged. We found our brand new cooking pan set dumped into a large box with no packing materials and upon inspection, many of them had been badly scratched up because of it. My Wife and I have worked since we were both teenagers, often at jobs we hated, for our whole lives to acquire our possessions. To find them treated as if they were just garbage to be tossed into the back of a truck was very upsetting and left us feeling very disrespected. We gave the Umbrella Movers the chance to make this right before we began posting reviews but after offering us an insulting $347.40 for the several thousands of dollars of damage they caused (which they never sent anyway) and then just ignoring my follow-up emails, it was clear people needed to be warned. If you value your possessions, DO NOT HIRE UMBRELLA MOVERS!
