| - It's funny that when tourists think of the downtown area, really of any city, you always feel a little sketchy... I'm sure it's that way everywhere. One of the coolest things about Downtown Las Vegas is that it boasts some of the best free entertainment in the city.. If not anywhere....
If you were smart you would check in to a room or suite at The Golden Gate Casino or The D Las Vegas and wander around The Fremont Street Experience and take in all of it's beautiful, raunchy, outrageous people watching you've ever experienced.
It wouldn't be fair to only describe the music and light show that happens every hour on the hour. It begins when it gets dark and the last show is at midnight I believe. It wouldn't even be fair for me to mention the zip line that sails down the entire Experience from just past the D all the way to Main street in front of The Golden Gate Casino...
What's fair is for me to tell you that those are just the cherry on top. Those are the few things that will cost you money to have a great time downtown. AND.... it's all underneath the canopy of The Fremont Experience...
I happen to work downtown so I walk up and down The Experience more times then I can mention, that being said... wow... The atmosphere is cluttered with the largest mixture of lifestyle choices, and strange decisions you may have ever seen in one spot.. At least on purpose...
It's appropriately named, as you can't walk around any bend with out experiencing something that makes you say, "Only in Vegas".. But I suppose that's the charm right? The tourists from all over the world, nestled against local street dancers, big wigs, and the occasional on beat homeless person... There's no way to put into words the smile you can get just from watching.. Not judging.. But realizing this is one of the best parts of your vacation.
Yea, it's dirty... People are loud... Most Obnoxious.. But hilarious. You will meet some of the most interesting people in the world in this melting pot of an attraction. Whether you want to sit around the fire in front of The Nugget, or chill at The Whiskey Licker bar on the corner of Binions... even "the G spot" is advertised as being there.. And all under a barrel vault canopy four blocks long a 12.5 million LED display..All while you watch people show you how they make their money. Sponge Bob, to a very scary/adult version of KISS..
It's laid back and cheaper to hang out downtown.. Dress comfortable and warm in the winter.. Its concrete, have comfy feet ladies... trust me.
You would really miss out if you didn't hang out and stay down there at the D or Golden Gate, rooms are ridiculously reasonable and i promise you unforgettable memories..
