  • As I walked into this hotel, I noticed how homey it felt. There was a fireplace and a Christmas tree. The front desk was very friendly and was more than happy to recommend us places to visit in Canada. After we checked in we entered a small elevator that took a couple of minutes to arrive. We had asked for a room which included a kitchen (a suite) and, thus, were very surprised that our room (although having a kitchen) did not have any kitchen appliances like pots and pans. We were given some forks and spoons, a kitchen towel, and a cartridge for the washing machine. We weren't fazed, though, because my family wasn't planning on doing any cooking, but only wanted a kitchen as a precaution. As we were going to sleep, I was staying with my parents, so I slept on the sofa bed. A very thin blanket was provided and when we asked for an additional blanket, we were told that there were no additional blankets. The mattress provided was very soft(not in a good way) and as I slept, it was easy to feel the springs and wires in the mattress. It would have definitely been more comfortable to sleep on the sofa instead of opening up the bed. In addition, we noticed an abundance of stray hairs on the blanket on the bed. We didn't make a big fuss about it and just took it off. The bathroom was very clean. However, when our toilet became clogged, we were given a plunger and prompted to fix the problem ourselves(which I found a bit odd, but, once again, didn't really make a big fuss about). On one day of our stay, as we were leaving the hotel room, the door handle of the door fell off(which would be a fire hazard) and we solved the problem(temporarily) by sticking the handle back into the crevice and opening the door(after a couple of tries). When we alerted the front desk as we left the hotel, he was very surprised and the problem was solved before we returned to the hotel(we were surprised he didn't give us a screwdriver like he did the plunger). On the plus side, the staff were all very friendly and the environment of the hotel all seemed very good. In addition, free breakfast was provided.
