| - How come you don't ever hear about this place? It's a cute little deli in the strip that seems to be overshadowed by some of the big names like Deluca's and Pamela's.
My husband and I didn't feel like waiting a long time at other places so we decided to try out Cafe Raymond since it didn't seem that busy. On the Sunday afternoon that we came here, the dining room was rather empty. Aside from us, there were two other couples dining inside and perhaps two couples dining outside (they have about four tables outside on the sidewalk). Cafe Raymond has a large black board menu that you order from that contains sandwiches, salads, breakfast items and perhaps even a daily special. You place the order, they give you a number and they bring your order out when it's ready. He opted for the Ham & Gruyere and I got the Ciabatta & Lox. Both sandwiches came with a side of potatoes, which we didn't expect. They were generous with both the ham and smoked salmon on our sandwiches, which I feel like not many places do these days. The Ham & Gruyere was not just any old ham and cheese; the croissant, gruyere and mixed greens made it a bit fancy. The Ciabatta & Lox was rather rich with cream cheese and smoked salmon, but the cucumber, tomato, onions and capers cut through the richness, adding fresh flavors.
Overall, the price is right. Not overly priced and the portions are decent. The flavors are there and you can tell the food is fresh. Definitely a good place to visit when you've got a hankering for a good sandwich.
