  • Let's face it, if you are a frequent flyer and have used various airlines in your life, you'd agree that absolutely none of them can magically change the weather, make broken planes fly solely upon your request and take all the fault for you sleeping through your scheduled flight. Most of them can, however, do everything in their capability to make sure you get to your destination safely and accommodate for weather, aircraft maintenance, you sleeping through your flight issues. I've had horrible flying experiences, and beyond expectation amazing experiences with the same airline before - at the end of the day, it all depends on the representatives you get to deal with. And your own attitude towards the situation. Today I was scheduled to fly from Toronto to Columbus, OH (AC 7891) where i would be transferred to fly to Houston, TX and finally transferred again to Dallas, TX, my final destination. My 8.30 am flight was delayed for two hours due to frozen plane engines (coldest day of the past 5 years ! -40C with windchill). When we finally boarded, aircraft still didn't warm up. Stewardess (I'm horrible with names) was extremely pleasant and caring. Her positive attitude ( even though she must've been freezing herself standing next to the open door) was just remarkable! She gave out pretzels and blankets. After being on that plane for at least an hour, we were told that the plane was not fit to fly due to one of the engines not warming up properly. We all had to deplane - means I'm losing all my connections. A customer service rep at Air Canada was extremely pleasant to deal with and quickly changed my crazy 3-plane-way to Dallas to a direct flight. Gave a meal voucher as a token, and the brightest smile. Now I am warm, well fed and happy. Maybe I just got lucky or maybe you just gotta find strength in yourself to stay positive when you feel absolutely miserable - and I strongly believe that most people will do anything they can to help brighten your situation. Possibly there is still, after all, a hope for humanity.
