  • I am a big fan of what's inside this YMCA, but the location makes it difficult. The Good: this Y has a great variety of exercise machines. Their treadmills are particularly awesome because they have TVs with like 40 channels and sound hookups. It is pretty fantastic while running to be able to pick your choice of 40 channels with closed captions Also: the treadmills have a lovely view of Market Square. Also: they have a really nice swimming pool, and the locker room has a sauna and a steam room! They have a great schedule of group exercise classes as well. I have always found the facilities to be clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and helpful. The Bad: if you work downtown I'm sure this location is excellent. However, IMHO, if you don't work downtown this location is really a pain due to the impossibility of finding parking. We joined because my husband works downtown so it's convenient for him, but for me it is basically impossible to find parking 75% of the time. I did lately learn that apparently you can park in the spaces on Fifth Ave right across from the entrance that are marked "Loading Zone" and they almost never tow. Glad to know this and hoping it helps me from here on out!
